Witter Coins
IHOP commercial conversion

San Francisco, California

We were retained by Witter Coins to convert the IHOP (International House of Pancakes) on Lombard Street in San Francisco into a commercial coin retail showroom. We wanted to keep the flavor of the original building while providing the owners with offices, a mail order shipping facilities and restoration workroom. What the IHOP had turned into was a dingy space with 8′-0″ high ceilings and a bad addition. We opened up the vault and the 2nd story storage area to create a mezzanine overlooking a main showroom. In the addition we created an area for buying booths and an open office area. We replaced all of the finishes as decided on maple paneling for the walls. We exposed the A frame vaulted ceiling structure and painted it white for light and also to accent the Sonnemann showroom lighting.
